DR. IDER VALVERDE FARFÁN

He graduated in 1986 from the Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil. He holds a master’s degree in Maritime Law at the University of Southampton in United Kingdom in 1991, a Doctor of Law degree from the Universidad Católica Santiago de Guayaquil in 2010 and graduated from the Master’s degree in Criminal Law at the Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo de Guayaquil.
He has attended several courses of specialization including International Arbitration at Georgetown University in Washington DC, and Maritime Insurance at Cambridge University in United Kingdom.
He is a member of the Ibero-American Institute of Maritime Law and has lectured in Panama, Venezuela, Argentina and Chile. He has also given lectures in London to the Reinsurers market in the City and in Copenhagen to the Danish Association of Maritime Law.
He published in 2011 the book “El Transporte de Mercancías por mar Bajo el Régimen de Conocimientos de Embarque y los Convenios Internacionales que lo Rigen” (“The Transport of Goods by sea under the regime of knowledge of shipping and the International Agreements that govern it”.)
As part of his professional services, he is the agent and manager of several international shipping agencies based in Ecuador.
